As a United States Army veteran, former assistant district attorney, and former defense attorney for the largest auto insurer in New York, Peter Mayer possesses wide-ranging experience in criminal and civil litigation, and is respected throughout Long Island for his expertise and tireless work ethic.
During his six years in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Mayer conducted arraignments, pre-trial negotiations, motion practice and disposed of hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases. He spent two years in the prestigious Major Crime Bureau, and gained vast trial experience. In 2013 the District Attorney promoted Mr. Mayer to the then newly created Vehicular Crime Bureau, where he specialized in prosecutions of felony cases involving violent vehicular crimes, including DWI offenses.
After leaving the District Attorney’s office, Mr. Mayer earned a position as staff attorney at one of the nation’s largest auto insurers. During his tenure with the company, Mr. Mayer defended hundreds of drivers and vehicle-owners in Suffolk, Nassau and Queens against claims of bodily injury and property damage.
