Mark Horwitz is a founding member and partner of the Law Offices of Horwitz & Citro, P.A. Mark represents individuals and companies under criminal investigation or charged with crimes in federal courts throughout the country and in state courts throughout Florida. He also represents individuals and companies in related civil and administrative matters including federal grand jury investigations, civil fraud matters, IRS audits and seizures of currency, bank accounts and other property. Mr. Horwitz has represented individuals under investigation by Department of Justice attorneys in Washington, D.C. and various Assistant United States Attorneys throughout the country including Arizona, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Georgia, California, Colorado and Minnesota. Mark Horwitz served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Florida for almost eight years. During that time, he prosecuted a wide variety of cases including criminal tax, healthcare fraud, drug trafficking, kidnapping, bombings, theft of government property, government contracting fraud, counterfeiting, mail fraud, wire fraud, and murder. While serving as an AUSA, Mark received a Certificate of Appreciation for his work with the Department of Treasury. In addition, Mark was designated an Honorary Special Agent of the Department of Treasury.
As a result of his experience representing the federal government in complex criminal cases, he developed an invaluable understanding of how the Department of Justice and federal law enforcement agencies work. This knowledge has been instrumental in successfully defending clients during government investigations and prosecutions. Mr. Horwitz uses his experience as a former federal prosecutor to conduct thorough defense investigations. In many instances, our defense investigations have resulted in the government’s criminal investigation being closed without charges being filed against our clients.
