As part of the Saint Laurent family who migrated to Greeneville in 1989, Catherine moved from New Jersey to Tennessee when she was eight (8) years-old. Her grandparents bought a beautiful farm out in Camp Creek where she enjoyed helping her grandmother tend to her garden while dreaming of becoming an attorney someday.
EDUCATION AND CAREER
She is proud to say that she made her dream of becoming a lawyer a reality despite becoming a parent at a very young age. Catherine graduated from South Greene High School and went on to study English and Criminal Justice at East Tennessee University. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree while working a full-time job and raising two children with her wonderful husband Lance.
After working as a supervisor for Holston Home for Children for years, Catherine realized that she wanted to do more to help the children living there and help their families too. So, she decided to apply to law school and won a scholarship to LMU’s Duncan School of Law. While studying there, she made the Dean’s List and won the CALI award for Legal Writing in 2017. She interned at Legal Aid of East Tennessee and still volunteers with the school’s alternative dispute resolution program.
Catherine also interned at EK Law PC during law school, has had her provisional license since 2020 and began practicing under Ed Kershaw’s supervision at the Johnson City Juvenile Court. She is fully licensed now and as part of the EK Law PC family, Catherine is dedicated to ensuring indigent and underprivileged clients receive excellent legal representation in all matters.
