I have been defending motorists accused of driving under the influence for nearly a quarter of a century. I have argued hundreds of motions and repeatedly taken cases to jury trial that have resulted in acquittals.
EDUCATION
William graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina (BA) in 1992. He received his law degree from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan (JD) in 1996. Although Michigan does not require continuing legal education credits, William has attended hundreds of hours of continuing legal education through the National College for DUI Defense, the National Criminal Defense College, the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, and private entities across the nation, learning the science of breath and blood testing, standardized field sobriety testing, and advanced trial skills.
EXPERT WITNESS
William has been qualified as an expert witness in standardized field sobriety tests and Michigan’s Datamaster breath testing device by numerous Michigan courts. He has provided that expert opinion testimony at evidentiary hearings, bench trials, and jury trials, working with criminal defense attorneys and their clients.
FORMER PRESIDENT CDAM
William was elected to serve as the president of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) for the 2014-2015 term. This is Michigan’s largest statewide criminal defense attorney organization, and it was an honor and privilege to serve as president of that organization.
